While you don't need to worry about crowds of tourists ruining your day, you should still plan accordingly if you're visiting the park. The best time of day to visit is definitely as soon as the park opens. The crowds are smaller and the weather is usually cooler, making it a more enjoyable experience. Try visiting during the off-season, such as the week after Labor Day until the week before Thanksgiving, when the kids have just returned to school.
